Volunteer at Minnehaha Food Shelf

Emergency food assistance programs like ours are experiencing unprecedented and continuing surge in demand. In just the past few years, the number of households we serve weekly has grown dramatically — and it's still climbing. Meeting that need means we need more volunteers.

We need help with unloading trucks, food distribution setup and takedown, inventory management, registering and checking in clients, Spanish-English interpretation, community outreach, volunteer coordination, social media support, and other vital tasks. Many roles require being on-site during our open hours (Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.), but others don't.

New Volunteers: Start with our monthly Volunteer Orientation — a site tour and onboarding session where you'll meet our team, see how we operate, and learn how to sign up for shifts. No experience necessary!
