Welcome to Minnehaha UMC
I'm Becky Sechrist the pastor at Minnehaha. I'd like to invite you to join us in our faith, ministry, service and fellowship. I know you'll feel at home here.
Prayer, reflection and song
If you're new to Minnehaha, take a seat where you feel comfortable and enjoy the service. There will be time for prayer, reflection and singing. After the service feel free to meet with some of the men, women and children who worship with us, or take the message of Jesus Christ out in the world with you.
is a progressive congregation. Our hearts, minds and doors are open to everyone. Especially you.
We are a church of faith
Our faith guides us to experience what is most important and most precious in life. In addition to our two Sunday services, we have a prayerful "Taizé" service on the second Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (October through May). We have regular Bible classes and education for all ages. Our faith defines who we are. Together we can help each other experience God's direct presence.
We are a church of action
Along with our church service, we offer many opportunities to help the people in our neighborhood and around the world. On the fourth Saturday of every month we offer food to those who need it. We call this our "MinneHarvest." Minnehaha is also host to a neighborhood Food Shelf that serves about 200,000 pounds of food to 600 families each month. We also support disaster relief, promote affordable housing, and more. We would love to have your help and energy.
We are a church of song
Music plays an essential role in our services. Our traditional service is enriched by a Chancel Choir, hymns and piano and organ music. Our contemporary service features a wide range of "electric" musical styles, including jazz, reggae, rock, folk and more. You'll find your voice at Minnehaha.
We are a church that welcomes everybody
Minnehaha is a progressive congregation. Our hearts, minds and doors are open to everyone. Especially you.
We are a reconciling congregation
Minnehaha opens its doors to all God's people. We strive to offer unconditional love and acceptance to all persons, regardless of sexual orientation or gender. We work to eliminate prejudice and discriminatory practices within ourselves and within our community.
Join us! Good things happen here.
